Michael Gordon Fishing Derby

Date of Event:  Sunday, June 23, 2019 (rain or shine)

Time Of Event: 8:00am to 11:00am

Location: Mill Pond, 15 Sylvan Street, Danvers. The Mill Pond is adjacent to the Peabody Institute Library.

Cost: This event is FREE and no pre-registration is required.  Please bring your own bait and a bucket/pail for your catch.

Description Of Event:

Danvers Family Festival tradition continues this year with the Annual Danvers Recreation Fishing Derby in Memory of Mike Gordon.

 

The fun family event will start at 8:00 a.m. and end at 11:00am sharp. (All fish must be weighed-in by 11am). Anglers of all ages will line the perimeter of the picturesque Mill Pond in Danvers and cast their lines in the morning air. Hoots and hollers can be heard as kids and their parents make a catch! (Mainly perch, catfish and pickerel)

- No limits on the # of poles, but most participants have 1 each.

- No bait restrictions.

- No boats allowed. Shore anglers only.

- A child on every team is not a requirement.

- You can set up before 8am. We will announce when derby starts.

- Any FISH can be weighed. (No turtles)

- Winners based on cumulative weight of all fish.

 

The rules of the derby require the catch to be released immediately after it is weighed by the judges.

NO PRE-REGISTRATON IS REQUIRED. JUST SHOW UP FOR THE FUN!

 

PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN BAIT.  You should also bring a bucket or pail to carry your catch to the weigh station.

 

Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 Family\Team entries.  A maximum of 5 members per Family\Team.
